SARENA HSU | Violin

Sarena Hsu is an accomplished violinist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As an active orchestral player, Sarena is currently Assistant Principal 2nd violin of the California Symphony. She performs regularly with Sacramento Philharmonic, Monterey Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Oakland Symphony and Opera Parallèle. Sarena has performed throughout North America and Europe in venues that include Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Munich Philharmonic Hall, Smetana Hall, SF JAZZ center, and Davies Symphony Hall. Sarena has also had the pleasure to work with and share the stage with a wide range of artists including Sting, The Eagles, Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Hozier, KYGO, and Smokey Robinson. Sarena has recorded and can be heard on films and TV shows such as 'Black Adam' and 'Star Trek: Picard'. Her television credits include 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!" with Yung Gravy, The Game Awards, a Taco Bell commercial, and Paris Hilton's docuseries 'Paris in Love'.

When she is not performing, Sarena maintains a full music studio, teaching violin, viola, and piano. Sarena Hsu earned her M.M. in Violin Performance degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Wei He. She received her B.M. degree from the California State University of Sacramento, where she studied with Ian Swensen. She has also studied and worked with Barbara Barber and Zaven Melikian.
